Britannia launches ‘Millet Bread’ with zero added maida in India

Britannia, the pioneer of sliced bread in India, has introduced Millet Bread with no added maida. This new bread variant is made with Ragi, Jowar, Bajra, and Oats. It offers customers with an easy way to include millet-based options into their meals.

Britannia is the first company to introduce this product in the FMCG market in India. This initiative aligns with the Indian government’s efforts to promote millets and offer a nutrient-rich diet to its citizens. It is in line with the World Health Organization’s declaration of the ‘Year of Millets.’

Rajneet Kohli, the CEO of Britannia Industries, expressed their commitment to bringing the latest innovations to consumers. As the demand for guilt-free snacking grows, there is increasing interest in millet-based foods due to their health benefits. Britannia aims to provide a suitable solution for consumers in a popular category that serves as a staple for many Indians.

Yudhishter Shringi, the Chief Business Officer of Adjacency Business at Britannia Industries also mentioned that the United Nations has designated 2023 as the ‘International Year of Millets.’ This presents a perfect opportunity to introduce something new for every Indian who desires to incorporate millet-based snacking options into their diet and raise awareness of the benefits of millets.
